Volunteering with Us
Volunteering at the John Townsend Trust offers a wide variety of opportunities from
working directly with our deaf children and young people in School or College or at
their residences to helping out with administration. There are also opportunities to get mucky at Monkshill Farm, gardening and helping to develop our grounds or working directly with the community through our new Community Living Services Programme. Training, support and development will be offered to volunteers in relation to their role. This will include learning British Sign Language as it is our main form of communication with our staff and pupils.
There are also many opportunities for fundraising in the community including joining our Friends group, organising events, helping at events organised by our fundraising team, advertising our 100 Club and placing and returning collection tins to and from businesses in your local community. Fundraising volunteers can commit to volunteering on a regular basis or helping at one-off events, whichever fits in best with their lifestyle. You don’t need to live locally to the Trust to be a fundraising volunteer.
