A community resource offering the opportunity to learn new skills then put them to work in our allotment, herb or wildflower gardens growing food or flowers. We have nature conservation projects including monitoring small mammals, building hibernation quarters for wildlife, composting with our own wormeries and recycling activities.

You could also watch the world go by which is away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a wildlife haven in the middle of the town. We are nestled in the grounds of The Royal School for Deaf Children, Victoria Road, Margate, based in the old gardeners’ shed, which has been recently renovated with the help of a volunteer workforce and Westgate College students.

The Orchard Shed Project

Our mission is to educate and care for d/Deaf children and young people and those with associated communication difficulties who may have additional needs, for a positive
future.

The John Townsend Trust is a new charity which was registered in December 2008. Formerly the Royal School for Deaf Children Margate, the Trust provides education, care, therapy, medical support and in dependence training for young deaf people with additional needs.

We strive to release the potential for each individual by building confidence and independence skills and letting them know that they are valued.
